A green belt data centre in outer London would emit more than a million tonnes a year
- Digital Reef wants to build fifteen data halls across 218 hectares of green belt in Havering, drawing 600 megawatts from the grid.
- The developer's own planning documents put the annual carbon output above a million tonnes, which the Guardian calculated as equivalent to 27,000 flights from London to New York.
