A rare eclipse over Europe becomes a magnet for science
- When a total solar eclipse sweeps across the far north and into Spain on August 12, it will bring darkness at midday to parts of Europe for the first time in years, and give scientists a fleeting chance to study the Sun, the upper atmosphere, and even to retrace a century-old test of Einstein's theory of relativity.
