Carney backs an Alberta-to-Pacific oil pipeline to court Asian buyers
- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney threw his weight on July 2 behind a proposed oil pipeline from Alberta to British Columbia's Pacific coast, part of a push to sell more Canadian crude to Asia and lean less on the United States.
- But he coupled the support with a promise to keep a tanker ban off northern BC — and the project still has no private company willing to build it.
