US pulls most troops from Nigeria after a Lake Chad counterterrorism mission

  • The United States has withdrawn the majority of the roughly 200 troops it deployed to Nigeria earlier this year for a counterterrorism mission in the Lake Chad Basin, while saying it will keep sharing intelligence and cooperating with Nigerian forces.
