Rochdale abuse ringleader freed as UK lawmakers press for a deportation the law blocks

Shabir Ahmed, the ringleader of the Rochdale child-sexual-abuse gang, has been released from prison in England after serving the custodial part of a 19-year sentence.
His release has prompted cross-party demands that he be deported — but the government says a long-standing immigration law prevents it, and Pakistan says he is not its citizen.
