England orders councils to track teenagers slipping out of school and work as NEET numbers top a million
- The number of young people in the UK not in education, employment or training has passed a million for the first time in more than a decade.
- In response, ministers in England are pressing councils to do a far better job of tracking teenagers at risk of dropping out — using data on attendance, health and care history to spot them early.
