# Tottenham sign Savinho from Manchester City, and pass £322 million for the summer

British media put the fee at £75 million with £10 million in add-ons. Neither club confirmed the figures. The club that has spent all this finished 17th last season.

Tottenham Hotspur have signed the Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City, [Al Jazeera reports](https://www.aljazeera.com/sports/2026/8/25/tottenham-sign-brazilian-winger-savinho-from-manchester-city). British media put the fee at £75 million, about $102.2m, with a further £10 million, about $13.63m, in add-ons. Neither club disclosed the figures or the length of the contract.

Savinho is 22. He started at Atletico Mineiro, moved to Troyes in 2022, and had the season that made his name on loan at Girona in 2023-24, scoring 11 goals in 41 appearances as the club finished third in La Liga. He joined Manchester City in the summer of 2024 and made 84 appearances with 7 goals. He has 13 caps for Brazil.

## The number that frames the rest

This takes Tottenham's close-season spending past £322 million, roughly $438.9m, including add-ons. Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have arrived in midfield, and Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke in defence.

The club finished 17th last season.

Those two facts sit oddly together and are worth stating plainly rather than smoothing over. A squad that narrowly avoided the bottom three does need rebuilding, and spending is the fastest available method. It is also the method with the least reliable relationship to results, because a team assembled in one window has to learn to play together before any of it counts.

## What they have bought

Roberto De Zerbi described the player's qualities: "[Savinho] is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions. He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity." The bracketed name is the source's clarification.

Seven goals in 84 appearances is a modest return for a winger, and Savinho's reputation rests on creation rather than finishing. That is a defensible thing to pay for. Whether it is worth £75 million is the judgment the fee represents, and City, who bought him two years ago and are now selling, have made the opposite one.

## What we could not establish

We could not establish the contract length, the structure of the add-ons, whether Manchester City retain a sell-on clause, or Tottenham's net spend after sales. The fee figures come from British media rather than from either club, and we verified this account from a single publication.
