# Lincoln Center to revive A Few Good Men and The Sound of Music on Broadway

Lincoln Center Theater will stage Broadway revivals of Aaron Sorkin's courtroom drama 'A Few Good Men' and the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical 'The Sound of Music' as part of its 2026-2027 season, with both productions slated for its Vivian Beaumont Theater.

Lincoln Center Theater said its 2026-2027 Broadway season will feature revivals of two works with long histories on stage and screen: Aaron Sorkin's military courtroom drama "A Few Good Men" and the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "The Sound of Music." Both are limited engagements at the nonprofit's Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center, according to multiple trade outlets reporting the announcement.

## 'A Few Good Men' returns with Whitford and Blyth

The revival of "A Few Good Men" is set to begin performances on October 8, 2026, ahead of an opening on October 29, [BroadwayWorld](https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Jasmine-Amy-Rogers-Will-Lead-THE-SOUND-OF-MUSIC-Broadway-Revival-Bradley-Whitford-Tom-Blyth-Will-Star-in-A-FEW-GOOD-MEN-in-Lincoln-Center-Theaters-202627-Season-20260623) reported, in a limited run of about 13 weeks.

Bradley Whitford and Tom Blyth are attached to star, according to [Variety](https://variety.com/2026/legit/news/sound-of-music-a-few-good-men-revival-broadway-1236788168/) and [The Hollywood Reporter](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/arts/a-few-good-men-sound-of-music-return-broadway-1236628317/). Whitford, who appeared in the original 1989 Broadway production as Lt. Jack Ross, is set to play Col. Nathan Jessup — the role made famous on screen by Jack Nicholson in the 1992 film. Blyth, known for "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes," is to play Lt. Daniel Kaffee. The production is to be directed by Michael Arden, a recent Tony winner for "Parade."

Sorkin wrote "A Few Good Men" before his television work on "The West Wing" and "The Newsroom"; the play premiered on Broadway in 1989 and was adapted into the Rob Reiner-directed film.

## A first Broadway 'Sound of Music' in decades

The revival of "The Sound of Music" is scheduled to begin performances on March 23, 2027, with an opening on April 15, 2027, for a limited run of about 17 weeks, according to [Playbill](https://playbill.com/article/the-sound-of-music-is-coming-back-to-broadway-starring-jasmine-amy-rogers) and BroadwayWorld. Outlets noted it would be the musical's first Broadway revival in close to 30 years; the last Broadway staging opened in 1998.

Jasmine Amy Rogers is attached to lead the production. Lear deBessonet, Lincoln Center Theater's artistic director, is set to direct, with choreography by Christopher Gattelli, the trades reported. Lincoln Center Theater said further casting would be announced later. "The Sound of Music," with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, opened on Broadway in 1959 and became a 1965 film starring Julie Andrews.

## Part of a wider season

Both titles are confirmed bookings within Lincoln Center Theater's announced 2026-2027 slate rather than productions still in development, the outlets reported. The season also includes the Off-Broadway production "Playing Burton," with Matthew Rhys, in what [Deadline](https://deadline.com/2026/06/sound-of-music-few-good-matthew-rhys-broadway-1236964943/) described as his Lincoln Center Theater debut. As the producing organization, Lincoln Center Theater is staging both revivals at the Vivian Beaumont, the venue it operates within the Lincoln Center complex; ticketing details were not part of the initial announcement.
